The furoshiki with cresting golden waves on black

This furoshiki sets cresting waves across a black ground, the breaking swells drawn in fine gold line with curling crests of foam in soft blue-gray. Unlike the orderly concentric arcs of seigaiha, these are rolling, breaking waves in motion — dramatic, dynamic and graceful against the dark field.

The gold line work traces each swell and curl of spray, the pale blue foam tipping the crests as they break. Set on black, the waves read with real drama and depth, the metallic outlining giving the whole panel a refined, almost lacquered richness. The pale foam tipping each crest stands out vividly against the deep black ground.

A furoshiki is a square of cloth used to wrap and carry, the centuries-old Japanese alternative to a bag or paper. At 50 by 145 cm this is a generous, elongated panel: knot it around a gift, fold it into a carry-all, wear it as a scarf, or use it as striking decor.

The smooth, lustrous surface knots cleanly and holds a fold, tying into neat bundles without slipping. Reusable by design, it replaces single-use wrapping — and its dramatic black-and-gold waves make it a striking, sophisticated wrap for a special gift.

Hand-washable and made to be reused indefinitely, it folds compact between uses. A breaking-wave furoshiki for anyone who wants water in motion, in gold and foam on a dramatic black ground.

It also makes a striking everyday carrier or a length of decor draped over a table or shelf. The dramatic black-and-gold waves give it real presence, the kind of cloth that draws the eye whether it's wrapping a gift, slung as a bag, or simply left folded where it can be seen and admired.

  • Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we want you to know it. Every piece in our collection draws from Japanese culture, design, and street style: from the energy of Tokyo's neighborhoods to the calm of Kyoto's workshops, from the prints of vintage textiles to the silhouettes of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothing designed for daily wear, anywhere in the world.

Our pieces are produced through manufacturing partners in Asia who share our standards for quality and craft. The exact composition of each piece is listed on its product page and inner label.

We don't sell an origin. We share a spirit.

  • When you order from Japan Clothing, here's what you can expect:
