The haori that crosses indigo workwear with old Japan
This is where the kimono jacket meets the denim jacket. The streetwear haori takes a deep indigo ground — the same blue that runs through Japanese workwear and sashiko stitching — and layers it with a pair of white cranes, peony blooms and rolling waves in tonal blues and muted gold. Heritage pattern, street-ready colour.
The indigo does something clever: it pulls the traditional motifs into territory that sits comfortably with jeans, cargos and trainers. The cranes take centre stage on the back, framed by stylised waves along the hem and cloud forms across the shoulders, all printed in that washed, lived-in blue palette that feels more atelier than costume.
As an open-front haori it's made to be worn loose over a layer. The lightweight fabric drapes softly, the wide three-quarter sleeves keep the kimono line, and there's no closure to break the silhouette — it hangs open, framing whatever you wear underneath. That openness is the whole point: it's a layer, not a coat.
Styling it is genuinely easy. A plain white tee and dark denim is the obvious move and it works every time, the indigo-on-indigo reading intentional rather than accidental. Swap in black trousers and chunky trainers and it tips fully into streetwear. Either way the cranes do the talking.
This is for the person who likes Japanese pattern but wants it grounded in everyday streetwear blues rather than dressed up — an indigo layer that bridges tradition and the street. Throw it over a tee with denim or relaxed trousers and trainers. The free-size cut runs true to size with a loose, open drape.

Our pieces are cut to Asian sizing, which runs smaller than US sizing — so as a rule, order one size up from your usual size. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Every product page has its own size chart with exact measurements taken flat, so you can compare against a piece you already own. Still caught between two sizes? Email support@japan-clothing.com and a real person will help you pick the right one.

Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
Treated right, these pieces hold their shape, color and detail wash after wash.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we'd rather you hear it from us. Every piece draws from Japanese culture, design and street style: the energy of Tokyo's backstreets, the calm of a Kyoto workshop, the prints of vintage textiles, the cut of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothes built for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
The pieces themselves are produced by manufacturing partners in Asia. The exact composition of each one is listed on its product page and printed on the inner label — no guesswork, no fine print.
We don't sell you an origin. We share a spirit.
