The black geta guarded by a dragon in gold
This is the dragon pair gone dark. The same coiling golden dragon winds across the navy straps, but here it sits on a black-stained wooden base, the whole thing reading sharper, moodier, more like a piece of modern streetwear than a folk artifact. The strap even works in small character cartouches among the scales.
The base keeps the unmistakable geta silhouette — a raised wooden platform on two teeth — finished in a deep black that lets the grain show faintly through. It's the kind of dark, deliberate base that pulls the traditional shape firmly into a contemporary wardrobe. Rubber coating under the teeth keeps each step secure.
The hanao straps carry the gold dragon across navy woven fabric, padded for comfort, the little stamped cartouches adding extra detail among the coils.
