The wave-pattern geta that carries centuries on two teeth
Few shoes have stayed this true to themselves for so long. The geta is the raised wooden sandal Japan has worn for centuries, and this pair keeps the form intact — a solid brown wooden base lifted on two teeth, topped with padded hanao straps printed in the seigaiha wave pattern, those interlocking blue-and-white arcs that stand for calm seas and good fortune.
The base is cut from a single lightweight block, the grain running warm and visible across the top, finished in a natural brown that ages well. The two supporting teeth raise the foot off the ground the way geta always have — practical once, distinctive now. Underneath, a rubber coating on each tooth adds grip on modern pavements.
The straps are where the character lives. Woven and generously padded, the seigaiha print wraps the hanao in repeating navy-and-white waves, comfortable against the foot and unmistakably traditional. It's the detail that turns a plain wooden sandal into something with real heritage behind it.
Wear them with a yukata in summer, or break the rules entirely and pair them with jeans for that mix of old and new that defines a lot of Japanese street style now. Either way they announce themselves with every step.
Sizes run from 35 to 46. These run close to the foot, so we recommend choosing one size up for an easy, comfortable fit. The wooden base needs no breaking in; the padded straps soften further with wear. A piece of living tradition you can actually walk in.
There's a sound to geta too — that distinctive clack on hard ground that's been part of Japanese summers and festival nights for generations. Slip these on and you join a very long line of wearers, from Edo-period townsfolk to today's yukata crowd at the fireworks. The seigaiha waves only deepen that sense of continuity, a pattern that has decorated cloth and ceramics since ancient times.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we want you to know it. Every piece in our collection draws from Japanese culture, design, and street style: from the energy of Tokyo's neighborhoods to the calm of Kyoto's workshops, from the prints of vintage textiles to the silhouettes of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothing designed for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
Our pieces are produced through manufacturing partners in Asia who share our standards for quality and craft. The exact composition of each piece is listed on its product page and inner label.
We don't sell an origin. We share a spirit.
