The ukiyo-e cap wearing woodblock art in stitched thread
Ukiyo-e — pictures of the floating world — captured Edo-era Japan in woodblock prints: kabuki actors, courtesans, landscapes and waves, mass-produced for ordinary people and later worshipped by Western artists. It's the visual language that defined how the world pictures old Japan.
This cap takes a ukiyo-e motif and renders it in embroidery on the front, the woodblock line and color rebuilt in thread so the print's character survives in relief. It's an art-history reference with genuine weight, for people who know their Hiroshige from their Hokusai. The stitch sits raised against the twill, catching light where a flat print would simply lie there dull.
It comes in Black, White, Stone and Light Blue. Black gives the print drama; White keeps it gallery-clean; Stone reads aged-paper; Light Blue softens it. The cap stays unstructured and low-profile. The print motif fills the front where a logo usually sits, and the soft low crown lets the woodblock detail read flat and clear — an art reference given the room it deserves.
Construction is 100% cotton twill, six embroidered eyelets, adjustable antique-buckle strap for one-size wear. Fully embroidered rather than printed, holding its detail through years of use.
It's an art-history reference with real weight, for people who know the floating world was mass-produced for ordinary Edo townsfolk before the West turned it into treasure. Wearing ukiyo-e in thread rather than print is the connoisseur's move — the medium itself a small act of respect. Wearing the medium as well as the image is the connoisseur's quiet move. The cotton twill gives the woodblock motif a clean, stable ground, the stitched eyelets keep it breathable, and the antique buckle finishes the back the way an art reference deserves.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we want you to know it. Every piece in our collection draws from Japanese culture, design, and street style: from the energy of Tokyo's neighborhoods to the calm of Kyoto's workshops, from the prints of vintage textiles to the silhouettes of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothing designed for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
Our pieces are produced through manufacturing partners in Asia who share our standards for quality and craft. The exact composition of each piece is listed on its product page and inner label.
We don't sell an origin. We share a spirit.
