Persimmon Modern Japanese Dress Set with Lace-Up Waist
Kakiha takes its name from 柿葉, kaki-ha, the leaf of the persimmon tree — a plant whose bark, fruit and leaves all sit inside the Japanese textile tradition under the name kakishibu. The juice has been used for over a thousand years to dye paper, fabric and rope a deep warm orange that softens with sun. The modern Japanese dress here picks up that same kakiiro shade, the persimmon-orange that turns up in temple lacquerware and old fishermen's coats. Set against a cream blouse with a pink ribbon, it reads autumnal without leaning costume.
The set is two pieces. The top is woven cotton in cream, with a wide peter-pan collar edged in narrow lace, short puff sleeves with elastic ruffle cuffs, a centered pin-tuck panel and a small dusty-pink ribbon bow at the neck. The skirt is persimmon orange in soft drape weave, high-waist with corset lace-up panels at front, hidden side-seam pockets, a fully gathered drop and a scalloped hem letting cream lace show below. The cut runs slim through the bodice and full through the skirt, sizes S, M, L and XL.
What's in the box: top and skirt as a coordinated modern Japanese dress, packed flat in a recyclable kraft mailer with no plastic, no costume packaging, no fancy-dress framing. Ribbons arrive pressed in a paper sleeve. Labels stay minimal. We send this the way a small Daikanyama boutique would, not the way an anime convention store would. The persimmon dye reads warm against most skin tones, deepens slightly under low light, and lifts under daylight — that movement of color is the whole point of the kakishibu palette.
How to wear: white leather sneakers and the full set carry the Taisho silhouette, or the skirt alone with a fine cream knit and ankle boots for autumn. The persimmon tone sits well next to navy, deep brown, and any cream undertone — avoid bright reds. A black short kimono jacket layered over the top sharpens the silhouette in cooler weather. Kakiha is the warmest piece of the series, the one that closes the wardrobe loop between September and November.
Measurements taken flat. Chest is half-bust circumference, waist is elasticated and stretches across the range, body length is shoulder to top hem, dress length is total skirt drop.
