Full-Size Red and Black Samurai Armor With Oni Horns and Red Menpo
Raijin is the thunder god, and he is one of the few figures in Japanese belief who is genuinely dangerous to everyone including the people invoking him. He appears in temple paintings and folding screens as a demon ringed by drums, and he is usually paired with Fūjin, the wind god, on opposite sides of a gate — the two of them together standing for weather in its most destructive form.
Akai Raijin borrows that register. Two tall black horns curve up from the kabuto, a red menpo sits below with a white horsehair moustache, and the whole suit is laced in dense scarlet cord over black lacquered plates. The dō itself is left black and largely bare, which is what keeps the red from tipping into noise.
The odoshi lacing on a piece like this runs to hundreds of meters of cord threaded through every plate row by hand. On historical armor that lacing was the first thing to fail — it soaked, froze and rotted — and rebuilding it was routine maintenance rather than restoration.
Sixteen kilograms for the full set, cut for a wearer between 165 and 175 cm, and supplied with a wooden display box. Assembled and finished by hand, built to be worn as well as displayed. Sizing and selected details can be adjusted before production, and a full photo dossier is available on request.
Horns of this length were mounted on a socket at the front of the helmet bowl, held by a single fitting designed to give way under real force. A crest that snapped off was a crest doing its job — the alternative was a blow to the head transmitted through a rigid lever. Display and survival were negotiated in the hardware.

Our pieces are cut to Asian sizing, which runs smaller than US sizing — so as a rule, order one size up from your usual size. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Every product page has its own size chart with exact measurements taken flat, so you can compare against a piece you already own. Still caught between two sizes? Email support@japan-clothing.com and a real person will help you pick the right one.

Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
Treated right, these pieces hold their shape, color and detail wash after wash.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we'd rather you hear it from us. Every piece draws from Japanese culture, design and street style: the energy of Tokyo's backstreets, the calm of a Kyoto workshop, the prints of vintage textiles, the cut of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothes built for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
The pieces themselves are produced by manufacturing partners in Asia. The exact composition of each one is listed on its product page and printed on the inner label — no guesswork, no fine print.
We don't sell you an origin. We share a spirit.
