The jinbei that lines deep black with a flash of red
There's a reason the jinbei has been Japan's go-to summer homewear for generations: it's the most comfortable thing you can change into when the heat won't let up. This one, named kurenai for the deep crimson that lines it, takes a black crinkled-cotton set and runs a single bold red edge down the front and around the cuffs. Restrained almost everywhere, with one quiet flash of colour where it counts.
The fabric is the whole experience. Crinkled cotton gauze is light, airy and a little textured, so it never clings in the heat and only gets softer with washing.
