The ivory brocade obi with striking botanical motifs
This brocade obi spreads large, confident botanical motifs across an ivory-and-gold ground — green leaves, violet and red flowers, orange sprigs and golden fans set among diamond lattices. The scale is the difference: where other brocades crowd in fine detail, this one uses big, clear motifs with room to breathe.
The pattern reads striking and graphic for a brocade: broad green leaves and large stylized blossoms in violet, red and orange sit spaced across the pale ground, each outlined and filled in gold thread. The generous scale gives it a striking, almost contemporary clarity while keeping the rich woven texture of traditional cloth. The space around each motif lets the pattern breathe, giving it an almost contemporary clarity.
Tied into its full bow over a kimono or yukata, this obi makes a confident statement. The light ivory ground keeps it fresh and versatile, while the large, colorful motifs ensure it carries real presence — a brocade that feels both classic and boldly graphic.
The pale ground and big botanical motifs pair beautifully with solid-colored robes that let the pattern stand out, or with paler tones for a soft, harmonious look. It's the choice for someone who loves brocade but wants bigger, clearer motifs.
Made from thick woven fabric in a unisex cut, it's a one-size sash with an adjustable closure, easy to wear over a kimono, yukata or haori. A striking, large-motif brocade for striking traditional dressing.
In traditional dress the obi is the focal point, and a large-motif brocade makes that focus unmistakable. The large, clear botanicals here read almost like a modern textile print while keeping the rich woven depth of classic brocade — a sash for someone who wants the occasion of brocade with a fresher, more graphic sensibility.

Our pieces are cut to Asian sizing, which runs smaller than US sizing — so as a rule, order one size up from your usual size. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Every product page has its own size chart with exact measurements taken flat, so you can compare against a piece you already own. Still caught between two sizes? Email support@japan-clothing.com and a real person will help you pick the right one.

Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
Treated right, these pieces hold their shape, color and detail wash after wash.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we'd rather you hear it from us. Every piece draws from Japanese culture, design and street style: the energy of Tokyo's backstreets, the calm of a Kyoto workshop, the prints of vintage textiles, the cut of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothes built for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
The pieces themselves are produced by manufacturing partners in Asia. The exact composition of each one is listed on its product page and printed on the inner label — no guesswork, no fine print.
We don't sell you an origin. We share a spirit.
