The sukajan with a storm dragon worked in silver
This sukajan takes the storm as its theme. A silver dragon coils through swirling clouds across the back, embroidered tone-on-tone in raised thread so it reads as texture and movement rather than bright colour. Raijin no ikazuchi — 'the thunder god's lightning' — captured as a dragon riding the weather.
The embroidery is all about subtlety and depth. Worked in real relief with the sheen of true thread, the silver dragon and clouds stand off the satin-finish shell and shift with the light, giving the back a moody, atmospheric quality. It's a dragon for people who want the power without the fireworks.
It's reversible, giving the storm dragon two grounds: a bold Red side with red sleeves, and a soft Beige side in cream. Both keep the classic sukajan build: a ribbed collar, snap-button front and ribbed cuffs and hem, in a smooth, light satin-finish fabric that drapes rather than stiffens.
