The sukajan where a white fox dances through red flames
The fox — kitsune — is the shape-shifting trickster and messenger of Japanese legend, and on this sukajan a white kitsune leaps through curling red flames across the back. Embroidered in raised thread, pale against a dark ground with cream sleeves, it's a striking, slightly supernatural back piece.
The embroidery is genuine relief work, the white fox and red flames stitched to stand proud of the satin-finish shell with a soft sheen. The contrast of the ghostly pale fox against the dark body and the flickering red fire gives it a mysterious, folkloric energy — elegant and a little eerie at once.
The jacket pairs a dark embroidered back with cream sleeves and a contrasting front panel, so there's plenty of visual interest from every angle.
