The rock lantern hand-carved in the classic ishidoro form
This lantern is a genuine hand-carved garden lantern in the ishidoro tradition, worked in a green-gray surface that will mellow and develop a natural patina over time. Around 15 cm tall, it has a ribbed pagoda roof, square window openings and arched feet, each carved by hand so no two pieces are quite identical. The ribbed roof and squared openings follow the time-honored proportions of the garden form.
The hand-carving gives it character a molded piece can't match, the tool-worked surfaces and slight irregularities marking it as made rather than cast. Left outdoors, it will gradually weather and gather a soft patina, settling into a garden as it ages. The square openings would let a small light flicker through after dark.
Suited to outdoor or indoor display, it brings the genuine feel of a temple-garden lantern to a modest scale. Outside it works among moss, gravel and plants; inside it sits as a quiet sculptural object.

Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
