Shinobi Pants With a Dropped Crotch and Ribbed Cuff
Shinobi is the old Japanese word for those who moved unseen: scouts and infiltrators of the feudal provinces of Iga and Koka, whose work depended on staying quiet and unhindered. Their trousers were cut wide at the thigh for crouching and climbing, then bound tight from the calf down so nothing could snag. Shinobi pants keep that logic, room where the body bends and a close fit where the leg meets the ground.
This pair translates it into a modern jogger. The seat is dropped and the thigh is full, which gives the loose drape of harem pants without the excess of fabric. Below the knee the leg narrows sharply and ends in a long ribbed cuff that grips the ankle. The waist is elasticated and closed by a thick white drawcord with printed tips, the one detail that stands out against the solid color.
The fabric is a midweight woven cotton with a faint texture, breathable enough for all four seasons and sturdy enough to hold the shape of the leg. There are two side pockets. Three colors are available: navy, black and a deep red. Navy and black are the natural choices for a monochrome techwear outfit, and the red is the one that turns the pants into the centerpiece.
They pair with a kimono jacket or a noragi-style cardigan for a look that leans traditional, and with a hoodie and high-top sneakers for the street. The long cuff is made to sit above the shoe, so the sneaker stays fully visible. Unlike most of our pants, this model is cut in US sizes: take your usual size rather than sizing up. It runs from S to XXXL, and the elastic waist leaves some margin between two sizes.

The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
