The garden lantern shaped as a little pagoda-roofed toro
This lantern is a small tōrō, the pagoda-roofed garden lantern that has anchored Japanese gardens for centuries. Standing around 20 cm tall, it has a curved pagoda roof topped with a finial, square cut-out windows in the light chamber, and a set of arched feet, all in a gray, lightly granular finish that mimics weathered garden stonework style.
The tōrō shape is instantly recognizable and carries a strong sense of calm, Zen-garden atmosphere. The square openings would let candlelight or a small light flicker through, while the gray, textured surface gives it the look of a piece that has stood among moss and gravel for years.
