The gakuran is the boys' answer to the school uniform — the stand-collar jacket worn by male students across Japan for over a century. This three-piece set follows that pattern faithfully: a black jacket with a high mandarin collar and a row of gold buttons up the front, worn over a white shirt with matching black trousers. One of the most recognisable uniforms in the country.

A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
