The long kimono cardigan with cranes sweeping along the hem

Length changes everything about a kimono. This long kimono cardigan drops well past the hip, giving the silhouette a dramatic, robe-like fall — and then runs a band of white cranes in flight along the lower sleeves and the deep front hem, so the motif sweeps the full length of the piece as you move.

It's an open longline cardigan with elbow-length sleeves and no fastening. The black body stays solid through the chest and back, while the crane print — white birds, wings spread, touched with red and set over soft waves — wraps the sleeve openings and the long lower edge. The extra length gives that hem band far more presence than it has on a short jacket.

A long open layer makes a statement on its own. It adds drama to the simplest outfit — a plain tee and black trousers underneath, the cardigan doing all the work. The vertical drop is naturally lengthening and a little theatrical, while the cranes give the eye a clear path down to the hem. It's the most expressive of the crane pieces.

It's made from a textured cotton-linen blend with a soft, fluid drape that suits the longer cut, the crane print kept crisp so the whites and reds hold against the black through washing. The relaxed, unstructured fit lets the length fall cleanly, easy over a tee or a slim layer.

This is for the man who wants presence — a long, flowing layer with a beautiful motif and a bit of drama. If short jackets feel too safe, this length delivers. Wear it open over a plain tee with slim black trousers and boots. It runs slim, so take one size up for the cleanest, fullest drape.

Good to know

  • Our pieces are cut to Asian sizing, which runs smaller than US sizing — so as a rule, order one size up from your usual size. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Every product page has its own size chart with exact measurements taken flat, so you can compare against a piece you already own. Still caught between two sizes? Email support@japan-clothing.com and a real person will help you pick the right one.

  • Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.

A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:

    • Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
    • Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
    • Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
    • Do not bleach
    • Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
    • Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
    • For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first

Treated right, these pieces hold their shape, color and detail wash after wash.

  • Delivery. We ship worldwide, directly from our manufacturing partners in Asia. Most orders arrive within 7–15 business days, depending on where you are. If your order hasn't arrived within 30 days, we'll make it right — a full refund or a replacement, your call.

Tracking. As soon as your order ships, you'll get an email with a tracking link, so you can follow your package the whole way. Lost track of it? Email support@japan-clothing.com and we'll check for you.

Returns. You have 30 days from delivery to return an item for a full refund, exchange or store credit. Returns are free worldwide — we cover the return shipping. Just email us and we'll send you a prepaid label.

  • All prices include taxes — what you see is what you pay, with nothing added at checkout. Import duties are handled on our end, so for the vast majority of orders you won't pay a thing on delivery. And in the rare case a fee does slip through, we cover it — just email support@japan-clothing.com and we'll take care of it.

  • Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we'd rather you hear it from us. Every piece draws from Japanese culture, design and street style: the energy of Tokyo's backstreets, the calm of a Kyoto workshop, the prints of vintage textiles, the cut of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothes built for daily wear, anywhere in the world.

The pieces themselves are produced by manufacturing partners in Asia. The exact composition of each one is listed on its product page and printed on the inner label — no guesswork, no fine print.

We don't sell you an origin. We share a spirit.

  • When you order from Japan Clothing, here's what you can count on:

    • Quality guaranteed. If a piece arrives damaged, defective or not as described, we'll replace it or refund you in full.
