The white hakama where the soft pleats finally read
On a dark hakama the pleats vanish into the shadow. In ivory white they finally read — soft folds opening from the waist down each leg, the most traditional construction in the collection laid out in plain sight.
This is the real hakama architecture: an elastic waist feeding into soft pleats that open into two wide legs falling to the ankle. The off-white cotton-and-polyester blend catches light along every fold, so the pleating reads as gentle ridges of shadow and highlight rather than flat cloth.
Against all that pale fabric, the waist tie lands hard. A deep burgundy sash hangs down the front, each tail finished with a small white embroidered gourd — the hyotan good-fortune motif, picked out in pale thread. Red on ivory is the sharpest contrast in the line, and it's the first thing the eye goes to. The pleats fall from the waistband in soft vertical lines that flex as you move, so the structure stays visible whether you're standing still or mid-stride.
Treat the top half as a backdrop: a white tee keeps it tonal, a black tee makes the pleats pop harder, both finished with low sneakers. Sizes run through to 3XL with a forgiving elastic waist. We recommend choosing one size up from your usual size so the pleats fall open the way they're meant to.
