The furoshiki where golden cranes fly over dark waves
This furoshiki sends a flight of cranes across a deep navy ground, their wings picked out in gold and white above golden, wave-like lines and sprigs of bamboo. The crane, a traditional emblem of longevity and good fortune, makes this an especially meaningful cloth for gifting and celebration.
Against the dark blue, the cranes seem to glide on currents of gold, the rippling lines beneath them suggesting both wind and water. The metallic detailing gives the whole panel a rich, luminous depth, the birds and bamboo standing out crisply from the night-blue ground. Sprigs of bamboo tucked between the birds add a further note of resilience and long life.
A furoshiki is a square of cloth used to wrap and carry, the centuries-old Japanese alternative to a bag or paper. At 50 by 145 cm this is a generous, elongated panel: knot it around a gift, fold it into a carry-all, wear it as a scarf, or use it as a decorative drape.
The smooth, lustrous surface knots cleanly and holds a fold, tying into neat bundles without slipping. Reusable by design, it replaces single-use wrapping entirely — and with its longevity symbolism, it's a particularly fitting cloth to wrap a milestone gift in.
Hand-washable and made to last through countless uses, it folds away small between outings. A crane furoshiki for anyone drawn to the bird's symbolism of long life and the richness of gold on deep navy.
It also makes a beautiful everyday carrier — wrap a wine bottle for a host, bundle a bento, or tie it into a simple shoulder bag. Given the crane's association with a long and fortunate life, it's an especially considered choice for weddings, anniversaries and gifts that mark the passing of years.

Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we want you to know it. Every piece in our collection draws from Japanese culture, design, and street style: from the energy of Tokyo's neighborhoods to the calm of Kyoto's workshops, from the prints of vintage textiles to the silhouettes of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothing designed for daily wear, anywhere in the world.
Our pieces are produced through manufacturing partners in Asia who share our standards for quality and craft. The exact composition of each piece is listed on its product page and inner label.
We don't sell an origin. We share a spirit.
