The black geta inked with white characters on navy
The lettered strap, gone dark. This geta carries the same navy hanao straps printed with striking white characters, but sets them on a black-stained wooden base for an even sharper, more monochrome read. White on navy on near-black wood — it's the most graphic, urban-leaning pair in the lineup.
The base keeps the traditional geta silhouette — a raised wooden platform on two teeth — finished in a deep black with the grain showing faintly through. The dark wood pushes the whole sandal toward the contemporary, a fitting stage for the punchy lettered straps. Rubber-coated teeth keep things steady underfoot.
The straps lead with attitude: deep navy woven fabric, padded soft, scattered with white characters and symbols in a striking brush style. Against the black base the contrast reads even crisper than on warm wood, the strap looking every bit like a piece of modern graphic design. A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
