The sakura cap that carries two fleeting weeks of blossom
Sakura bloom for barely a fortnight, and Japan built an entire way of seeing around that brevity — the bittersweet awareness that beauty is fleeting. Hanami, the gathering under blossoming trees, has been celebrated for over a thousand years, with the first recorded flower-viewing dating to the Nara period (710-794).
This cap puts that idea on the front in thread: the word JAPAN arched above an embroidered cherry branch in pink and green, with the line 'The land of cherry blossoms' stitched beneath. It reads as a real seasonal reference, not a generic souvenir — the kind of detail someone who knows hanami will clock immediately.
It comes in White and Light Blue. On the White, the pink blossom pops with full clarity and the cap turns into the bright point of an outfit; on the Light Blue, the whole thing softens into something gentler and more spring-like. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.
A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:
- Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
- Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
- Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
- Do not bleach
- Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
- Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
- For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first
