The wall art bringing the Great Wave across three panels

This wall art reproduces The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the most famous Japanese woodblock print of all, and spreads it across three hanging panels. A great blue wave rears up and curls over, its claw-like crest scattering foam against a soft beige sky, with slim boats riding the swell and Mount Fuji small in the distance. First published by Hokusai around 1831 in the series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, the image has become shorthand for Japanese art the world over.

The triptych format is what makes it special: the single scene is divided across three vertical panels, so the towering wave breaks across the gaps and draws the eye from left to right. The deep Prussian-blue water, the white spray and the warm sky read crisp and graphic, faithful to the spirit of the original woodblock print.

Each panel is a waterproof print mounted top and bottom on slim toned rails, so the set hangs scroll-style straight from the box, no framing needed. The rigid supports keep the panels flat and give the whole piece a clean, finished edge.

Hung together with even gaps between the panels, the wave reads as one continuous, dramatic scene; the three-part split adds a modern, designer feel to a centuries-old image. It suits a living room, hallway or office wall that needs a real focal point.

A three-panel reproduction of The Great Wave, it pairs the iconic ukiyo-e image with an easy, ready-to-hang format. Wall art for anyone who wants the drama of the great wave spread boldly across their wall.

The triptych also brings a practical kind of flexibility: spread the three panels a little wider to fill a long wall, or keep them close for a tighter, more concentrated image. Because each panel hangs independently, the set adapts to the space you have rather than demanding a single fixed frame.

Sizing: this is a three-panel set, available in three sizes — roughly 30x60 cm, 40x85 cm or 50x102 cm per panel. Pick the format that best fits your wall from the size selector above; the larger options make a bolder centerpiece, the smaller one suits tighter spaces.

Good to know

  • Our pieces are cut to Asian sizing, which runs smaller than US sizing — so as a rule, order one size up from your usual size. The exceptions are t-shirts and hoodies, which run true to size, so take your usual size for those. Every product page has its own size chart with exact measurements taken flat, so you can compare against a piece you already own. Still caught between two sizes? Email support@japan-clothing.com and a real person will help you pick the right one.

  • Materials vary from piece to piece — some are 100% cotton, others polyester, satin-finish, or a blend, depending on the design. You'll find the exact composition in the product description above, and it's always printed on the inner label of the garment itself. When the two ever differ, trust the label.

A little care goes a long way with these pieces. To keep colors deep and fabric intact:

    • Machine wash cold, 30°C / 86°F maximum — heat is what fades and shrinks
    • Turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors
    • Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent; skip the fabric softener on printed or embroidered pieces
    • Do not bleach
    • Hang to dry in the shade — avoid the tumble dryer, which is the fastest way to ruin the fit
    • Iron on low heat if needed, and always inside out over prints or embroidery
    • For anything delicate or unusual, follow the inner label first

Treated right, these pieces hold their shape, color and detail wash after wash.

  • Delivery. We ship worldwide, directly from our manufacturing partners in Asia. Most orders arrive within 7–15 business days, depending on where you are. If your order hasn't arrived within 30 days, we'll make it right — a full refund or a replacement, your call.

Tracking. As soon as your order ships, you'll get an email with a tracking link, so you can follow your package the whole way. Lost track of it? Email support@japan-clothing.com and we'll check for you.

Returns. You have 30 days from delivery to return an item for a full refund, exchange or store credit. Returns are free worldwide — we cover the return shipping. Just email us and we'll send you a prepaid label.

  • All prices include taxes — what you see is what you pay, with nothing added at checkout. Import duties are handled on our end, so for the vast majority of orders you won't pay a thing on delivery. And in the rare case a fee does slip through, we cover it — just email support@japan-clothing.com and we'll take care of it.

  • Japan Clothing is inspired by Japan, not made in Japan — and we'd rather you hear it from us. Every piece draws from Japanese culture, design and street style: the energy of Tokyo's backstreets, the calm of a Kyoto workshop, the prints of vintage textiles, the cut of modern streetwear. We translate that inspiration into clothes built for daily wear, anywhere in the world.

The pieces themselves are produced by manufacturing partners in Asia. The exact composition of each one is listed on its product page and printed on the inner label — no guesswork, no fine print.

We don't sell you an origin. We share a spirit.

  • When you order from Japan Clothing, here's what you can count on:
